About me: Johanna Frohm

As you browse this site, you may wonder who is maintaining this site, so here is a little about me.

I worked approximately 16 years providing computer training at a community college. I have an Associate of Business Studies in Computer Information Systems in Programming and Accounting from Delta College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and graduated from Rockford Memorial School of Nursing.

For our son, we have looked at different non-technological and technological methods. For example, in preschool our son had a classmate who had a hearing impairment. Sign language was being tried and next thing we knew our son was picking up signs. We needed to provide him with the appropriate sign or he would make up signs! That encouraged us to seek sign language resources. Sign language continues to be used. As Mike acquires the ability to say a word, a sign is dropped.

Since 1985 we have used Picture Communication Symbols in different formats. We also use any type visual resource that can be helpful.

Through a variety of sources, such as speaking with professionals and vendors, using the Internet, participating in discussion groups, reading publications or books, browsing catalogs and attending conferences, information has been acquired.

This site shares information about some of the products and resources we use and how we use them.
